We currently have an au pair who speaks great English & doens't need to go to language school. Our new au pair comes from outside the EU and I have heard that she may need to attned 15 hours of language school per week to obtain a visa. Is this correct & what kind of proof would be necessary?

Does anyone have any other tips on whether to offer to pay for her flight (we didn't for our current au pair but her flight was very cheap). etc.?

  1. If your new Au pair is coming on a J-1 au pair visa then you will have to pay for her round trip ticket. In terms of school; you are required on this program to pay for, and for her to attend and pass, classes in the US, It doesn't necessarily mean language classes, but the requirement to attend college level courses while in the US is a requirement of the program
