Aubergine plants! When to pick aubergines?

Question

Hello! We have an aubergine plant in the garden with a large aubergine attached which is getting very heavy. Does anyone know at what point we should pick the aubergine or should we wait for it to fall off it by itself?

Hi!

This might be bad news but the longer you leave it on the plant the tougher it becomes and the  more seeds form making it slightly bitter.

The beauty of growing them yourself is to pick them fairly small, young and tender.

The more you pick the more you will get.
