Aubrey Huff and Brandon Belt shine as San Francisco Giants see potential – MLB Spring Season
Aubrey Huff and Brandon Belt have both been putting in good performances during the spring session to increase their chances of being included in the Opening Day roster for the San Francisco Giants.
Both players showed their worth during their Cactus League encounter against the Oakland Athletics on March 20. Aubrey Huff and Brandon Belt not only did it with the bat, but also put in a tremendous effort on the field as well.
Brandon Belt managed to get a single in the eighth inning as Aubrey Huff hit a three-run homer during the game. Both players managed to put on a clinic as they seem to putting their efforts towards getting on the final roster for the regular season.
It seems that if both players managed to continue with their current good form, there is a real possibility they will find themselves competing in the big leagues for the Giants.
Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy has been impressed by both players during the spring session. He is carefully watching their performance and will be the one to decide their fate for the regular season. If either is not selected for the final roster, they will
find themselves going to Triple-A to polish up on their skills and hope for a call up either during the regular season or most probably in the next season.
Huff commented on Belt’s recent performance. "Just from watching him this spring, he has a good head on his shoulders," Huff said. "He has a good approach. The talent's definitely there. You still have to go out there and play. But he has that Buster Posey-kind
of quiet confidence. He definitely has a good glove and he's a pretty humble kid. He's done everything he's had to do to make the team."
With close to 10 games left in the spring session, both players will be looking to work hard and continue to put in good performances in an effort to get selected for the roster. It will be interesting to see if the Giants select both or just one of the
players for the regular season. Both players are fully aware of what is expected of them, as competition within the team is fierce and it becomes the difference of playing in either the Major League or quite possibly another year in the Minor League.
The Giants are an experienced team and are in no particular hurry to rush into a decision regarding Belt and Huff. However, with most of the teams at full strength, San Francisco will be looking to these two young players to provide some energy into the
team as the regular season is right around the corner.
