Aubrey Huff shines as San Francisco Giants defeat Oakland Athletics 2-1 - Part 1
Aubrey Huff put in a brilliant performance as the San Francisco Giants defeated Oakland Athletics 2-1 at AT&T Park, San Francisco on Friday, May 20.
Aubrey Huff is on his way back to being the hitter that he was. With a last minute run that helped his team, the San Francisco Giants beat Oakland Athletics, the fans are starting to once again believe that Huff can be a reliable hitter.
The hit was definitely a surprise coming from Huff given that his performances since the start of the season haven’t been anything spectacular, which is not something you expect from someone on the reigning World Series team. The Giants have been on a roller-coaster
ride for most of May. They battle really well in the field at times and then there are times when every player on the team goes into a hitting slump, resulting in quite a few losses.
Manager Bruce Bochy was more than pleased with his team’s victory and said, "When you do it as much as we have going back to last year, there's a sense of confidence that you're going to find a way to win the ballgame, you hate to do it this way. You'd rather
score more runs, but they're accustomed to this."
Consistency is the key and that is what the Giants are lacking. However, the team from San Francisco is definitely on their way to the top. They just wrapped up a two set game series win over their arch rival the Los Angeles Dodgers, at the tainted Dodger
Stadium. This series marked the first time that two teams met at the Dodger stadium after a horrific and violent incident that left, Bryan Stow beaten to such an extent that the doctor had to put him in a medically induced coma to save his life.
Stow was apparently attacked by two men in Dodger gear, and his supposed crime was that he was wearing a Giants jersey. Members from both teams were saddened by the incident and called for a civilised rivalry, not one that could possibly leave the father
of two children paralyzed. The Los Angeles Police department has put up a $200,000 reward for anyone who might lead to the arrest of the suspect whose sketches are distributed at all public places throughout LA, especially outside ball parks.
A moment of silence was observed before the game began to honour and pay respects to Hall of Famer, Harmon Killebrew who died on Tuesday at the age of 74, after battling with esophageal cancer. Killebrew was the slugger for the Minnesota Twins.
Mark Ellis belted out his 1000th career hit with a single in the second innings from the Athletics side. Previously the team has dropped three consecutive games.
