Auby Taylor dominates the d**n Am Atlanta 2012 Final – Skateboarding News
Auby Taylor walked away with top honours from d**n Am Atlanta 2012 Finals that went down at Hazard County Skatepark just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, April 22.
Dan Corrigan put together a pretty impressive run which allowed him to secure runner-up place, while Yonnie Cruz finished in third place to complete the podium.
Hazard County Skatepark hosted over one hundred and fourteen skaters from around the nation over the weekend to battle it out for top honours at a perfectly laid out course. It did not take much of an effort for the skating talent in attendance to adapt
to the course and its various features.
Taylor did not take too long to stamp his authority in the competition, putting on a superb performance in the qualifiers to advance straight into the Final without having to go through the Semi-finals.
Other skaters who survived the qualifier round to earn their place in the semi-finals included Curren Caples, Alec Majerus, John Hill, Connor Champion, Ryan Cooper, Corrigan, Cruz and Dalton Dern.
The final of d**n Am Atlanta 2012 kicked off with some exciting performances. Champion looked in an intimidating form, putting together a solid run that featured switch back-flips and fake hurricanes on the rail feature.
Dern and Knibbs were nothing short of impressive on Sunday either, each looking equally determined to get their hands on the win.
Making his way back after an ankle surgery, Majerus let his competitors and fans know that he still had what it took to make a solid impact in competition. Despite taking a nasty fall during the course of the final, he still managed to walk away with eighth
position.
Corrigan had remained pretty busy throughout the weekend, participating in the bowl jam on Friday, competing in the semi-finals, skating in Red Bull’s second annual “Mind the Gap” contest on Saturday and then getting back on his board to compete in the final
on Sunday. He eventually managed to claim runner-up position in d**n Am Final.
Cruz put on a superb performance for third place, showing his stylish moves while utilising the various features on course.
However, the standout performance came from Taylor. The skateboarding sensation adapted exceptionally well to the course and landed tricks that left both the crowd and judges stunned. He eventually finished with a score of 99 to claim top honours.
It turned out to be an action-packed weekend in Atlanta, with plenty of skaters announcing themselves as the potential superstars of tomorrow.
