Auckland v Kolkata Knight Riders - Champions League Twenty20 - Group A – KKR hammer 137 – Live Score and Update
Kolkata Knight Riders 137/6 (20/20 ov) – KKR chose to bat first
Azhar Mahmood’s three-wicket haul helped Auckland limit Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 137 in their group A match of the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, at Newlands, Cape Town.
After winning the toss KRR chose to bat first, aiming to post a total good enough to defend against a very aggressive Auckland batting squad.
However, with Mahmood in his best form, KKR were in for a surprise. Nonetheless, it was MD Bates who drew first blood when he grabbed the wicket of KKR skipper G Gambhir. The opening batsman perished after scoring only five runs.
It was then time for BB McCullum to come in the middle and the hard-hitting batsman forged a daunting partnership alongside MS Bisla, taking the score to 72.
Before the side could score any further, MS Bisla was dismissed by RM Hira after hammering 38 runs.
Without allowing KKR to add another run, Mahmood grabbed two back-to-back wickets, sending JH Kallis and MK Tiwary back on nil.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 tightening their grip, Shakib Al Hasan and BB McCullum forged a defiant resistance with the Kiwi national hammering the bowlers before losing his wicket after 40 off 35.
Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 was then joined by YK Pathan, and the two batsmen who knew they were their side’s last hope, took the score to 108 before KD Mills struck to dismiss Hasan on 15.
The side finished with a moderate total as Pathan stayed unbeaten on 22 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Bhatia-c82926 on nine.
Auckland now require a steady show with the bat in order to comfortably reach the required target. KKR however, cannot afford to relax on the field and need to put pressure on their opponents right from the word go in order to save the game.
