In a match which was peppered with regular bouts of rain, the Northern Districts Knights succeeded in claiming a 23-run win, via the D/L method, in their HRV Cup match against the Auckland Aces, played at the Eden Park in Auckland today on December 26.
The Aces won the toss and chose to field first, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knights-c805 had barely reached 8 for 0, when rain interrupted play. Following the resumption of the match, the Northern Districts worked their way up to 13 for 0 in 2.0 overs, after which the rain commenced
yet again.
Once the showers let up, the game was reduced to 12 overs per side. The opening partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Mills-c1781 (3-0-17-2) in the 3rd over.

saviour, and proceeded to drive the remainder of the innings forward with an unbeaten 68.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Marshall-c1650 (15*) and Styris set up an unbeaten 73-run stand for the fifth wicket, which got the
team up to a solid 142 in just 12 overs, with the Knights having maintained a run rate of 11.83 per over.
The start of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766’s innings was delayed by rain, and once the team managed to step up to bat, the target had been revised to 73 runs from 6 overs, as per D/L calculations.
The Aces, however, were unequal to the chase, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brent-John-Arnel-c48390 (all of whom picked up one wicket each), easily managed to keep them from reaching the target.
Wicketkeeper skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phil-Mustard-c2183 (14) was the only other batsman who managed to progress beyond single digits. The rest crumbled without putting up a fight, and by the end of 6 overs, the Aces
found themselves at 49, with the Northern Districts clinching a 23-run win.
