An all-round effort from the Otago Volts enabled the team to come out on top and secure a 3-wicket win over the Auckland Aces in their first-class match during the ongoing Plunket Shield, played at the Eden Park No 2 in Auckland, from December 2 to 4.
Otago won the toss on day one, and elected to field first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lou-Vincent-c73143’s 37, and Bruce Martin’s 20. Within 52 overs, Auckland were all out at 196.
The Volts’ first innings hinged entirely on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamish-Duncan-Rutherford-c61359 (70) set a solid foundation for the rest of the team, but the remainder of the batting order failed to build on it.
Only three other batsmen – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Mills-c1781 (22-9-60-2) ensured that the Volts were cut off at 253, all out.
