http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions had a disappointing start to their inaugural Champions League Twenty20, losing the game against Auckland by six wickets on Tuesday, October 09, 2012, at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.
After their lower order collapsed, Sialkot were lucky to have at least put an intimidating total of 130 on the board, but according to their skipper Shoaib Malilk perhaps they were a bowler short today, which cost them the game.
“I think we were one bowler short. Conditions were tough, the way our batters batted, I think 130 was a very good total. we are very excited, great opportunity for all of us. I think we could have bowled well," said Malik after the match.
Meanwhile, Auckland skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GJ-Hopkins-c1490 was overwhelmed to have won the match in 17.1 overs with only four wickets down.
“It's our first win overseas. We looked at it, we've been in the winter, we spent two weeks here, it helped us not just with the altitude, but with the conditions," said Gareth.
Pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Mills-c1781, who left spectators mesmerized after giving away only six runs in four overs and taking two wickets was named as the Player of the Match.
The bowler in his post-match interview said, “I’ve been in good rhythm over the last few months, good conditions to bowl here. I didn't wake up in the bowler expecting to do something like that (most economical figures in CLT20).”
Earlier in the day, Sialkot Stallions chose to bat first after winning the toss and with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakeel-Ansar-c89546 failed to leave an impression as he lost his wicket with only two on the board.
Number-three batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haris-Sohail-c61503, was then the second casualty of the day, losing his wicket after scoring only 12 runs.
With Nazir gone for 17, Sialkot were stranded on 30 runs, and required something special from the remaining batting line-up in order to prevent a complete meltdown.
Later, Auckland batsmen gave a staggering performance as negating any pressure they comfortably reached the required target with opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Guptill-c1980 as the highest scorer for having smashed 40 runs.
