Audi Azzurra Sailing Team skipper Guillermo Parada satisfied with team’s performance
Italy’s Audi Azzurra Sailing Team clinched a strong position in the beginning of the 2012 52 Super Series and claimed a strong position. However, it seemed that luck was not in their favour as they tumbled down in the standings at the conclusion of Day 3.
Despite having a superb start, the Italian team finished on lower podium places in the middle of the regatta and in the final races to compile 14 points.
The fleet standings were occupied by the America’s Quantum Racing at the conclusion of third day with 14 points but Audi Azzurra Sailing Team was placed on the second podium because of their lower podium finishes in the final races.
The weather conditions throughout the regatta and the fleet had some convincing races but on the final day, there was no wind from the start of the day and the race committee decided to cancel the proceedings and Quantum Racing was the winner of the regatta.
Audi Azzurra Sailing Team skipper Guillermo Parada is satisfied with his team’s performance despite the fact that they were not able to win the event.
Speaking to the local media, Parada said, “We are reasonably happy. We knew it was going to be tight and it is tight. To leave here level on points with the lead. Tomorrow I go home to be a father, so it is all good.”
He added, “Barcelona has never been our favourite places in the past for results, and so this is as good as we have done here. So I think it is good and we are going to Porto Cervo, our home waters which we know well, we are in good shape.”
