Audi Sailing Team wins coastal race, Iberdrola Team leads Soto 40: 2011 Region of Sardinia Trophy
Audi Sailing Team Powered by All4One is still on the top of standings after four days of 2011 Region of Sardinia Trophy. The Franco-German sailing crew had a tremendous day on Saturday, July 23 as
they grabbed the coastal race victory. Meanwhile, the Spanish Iberdrola Team leads the Soto 40 standings with the help of a terrific sail on Day 4.
The improvement of Audi Sailing Team will definitely create an impact on the overall standings for them in 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit. From the second day onwards, the team has been on top of the results,
as they sailed impressively in both light conditions and harder conditions, where the wind blew up to 25 knots.
Iberdrola Team of Spain was nudged down by the local heroes, XXII Sardegna, on the second day but the Spanish crew jumped back into top place on the fourth day and they are likely to claim the Soto
40 title of 2011 Region of Sardinia Trophy. The sailors on Iberdrola Team were quite happy for their comeback and they hope to make it better in the following days.
Weather conditions at the Gulf of Cagliari in Sardinia calmed down a bit on the third day with wind speed up to 12 knots. However, the conditions got a little tricky on the fourth day with winds up
to 20 knots along with over 25 knots gusts which really tested the skills of all sailors.
