I am thinking about purchasing a vizio 22" lcd tv and wanted to connect it to my stereo for surround system. my current system only has one rca input and that's it. the tv only has headphones and 5.1 spdif output (optical). I wanted to know if there is a way to convert the optical to plug into an rca jack.

  1. There is a solution I got a analog/digital a/v signal converter box from radio shack the model # 15-1242 it's hard to get but I think you still get one or buy something similar it coverts audio/video cables to an optical wire along with s-video cable so if you have an audio output on your stereo and s-video input on your TV it should do the trick If not then it's best to upgrade your stereo system too.If you think you have all the elements to make it happen and you can't find the converter box email me I would be glad to further assist you.

  2. No not at all. Optical is a pure digital signal while RCA is analog, the two cannot be mixed together.  Sorry.
