Audio difference between HDMI and Component

Question

The audio on my TV is much louder when I switch to HDMI from Component.I have my Satellite DirectTV HD box set up to the HDMI jack and the Cable HD Box set up to the Component jack.  The volume on the HDMI is much louder than Component.  (The reason I have Satellite and Cable is  I get the local networks on Cable and I get the NFL package on Satellite) The reason I have one system on HDMI and the other on HDMI is to activate PIP. I cannot do PIP if both are hooked up to the same system.
