Audio video cables?

tell me if i am right

video cables are yellow and audio cables are white.

what are the red cables?

how do you know where to put the cables input or output. explain what is input and output?

i want to connect my laptop to my tv. i have a dell vostro 1500 and an old sanyo tv.

is there a cable that could connect both audio and video. do i connect audio and video separate

  1. Red and White are both audio, for stereo sound. If you just use the white you will only get mono.

    As to where to put them if your talking about the TV you will plug them into the input. If your TV is really old it may only have an input for mono, if that is the case don't use the red plug.


  2. Hook them up this way.

    yellow plug ( video) to TV video-in

    red plug ( audio R) to TV audio R Line-in

    white plug ( audio L) to TV audio L Line-in

    R=right

    L=left

    Both red and white are for stereo audio, and yellow for video
