Audio watts RMS and Peak?

I have a Sony home theater and it is 800 watts (RMS) what would it's theoretical Peak watts be?

  1. Doesn't matter really. I've seen little 8watt or less speakers advertised with 1000pmpo.

    Just don't blow it, 800watts RMS is excessive...my entire family doesn't even own 800watts worth of speakers. I have probably something under 400 in my car (that shakes all 3 mirrors), a broken 125w surround sound setup (that shakes the whole house) and etc.

  3. RMS is usually half the peak/max so 800 would be 1600...yeah

  4. well the amp for my sub is 750 max and 250 RMS.. and the amp for my speakers is 600 max and 220 RMS.. so you try and figure it out
