Audiobook, Podcast. Learning A Language From Home, Using My iPod.?

I am wondering whether it is possible to learn a language by using my iPod, downloading Audiobooks etc. Does anyone know from personal experience, even if it is just the basics.

I really want to learn a new language as in the future I am planning on being in the Tourism and Travel industry and am wanting to just learn basics at least as I am bit off from leaving school.

If there is a really good website that has audiobooks or something alike that will help me learn that would be great that I can download and put on my iPod. It must be free. I have heard about the Rosetta Stone program but that is out of my price range at this stage in time.

I am looking at various languages, French, Italian etc. It would alos be great If someone knew where to learn Tongan. I know a bit of Spanish as I am taking it at school and have taken it for a term at my previous school, but my teacher seems to be quite unorganised and I am not enjoying it as I dont feel I am actually learning as much as I should be.

Thank you so much if someone knows of somewhere, free and easy and for a begginer.

Thanks,

  1. There are plenty of podcasts for learning a new language, and they are free. First, download itunes. Then you can google "learn French podcast" or whatever language you want, and there will be lots of sites. At each site, there will be a "subscribe" button. Press it and your itunes will launch. It'll grab the podcast and be ready to go onto your ipod the next time you sync.

BTW  we get Rosetta Stone for free on our local library website. You could check to see if your library offers it. It's a great resource but you can't put it on your ipod.
