Question:

Audition Song - Opinions Needed!?

I'm auditioning for Mrs. Lovett in "Sweeney Todd" today. Wish me luck.

I'm auditioning with "Just One Step" from Songs From A New World. I think it's manic and shows a voice's flexibility. Do you think it's a decent audition song?

  1. Yes!

You know it is and you know you can do it.

(make sure you and the accompanist know what each of you are doing or that your backing track is properly q'd up).

    Good luck.

  2. I think it is a wonderful song to audition with!

    Good Luck

    Jenna

  3. Don't change your audition piece last minute. You'll regret it unless you've worked up a variety of different pieces.

  4. Break a leg!

However, if options are NEEDED -- you could try the solo in "NYC" from Annie -- the one that the star-to-be sings. Or "Give My Regards to Broadway"... anything's really possible; just definitely make sure to show your range, and show emotion!

Again, break a leg regardless :D

  5. I think that is a great choice. Good luck!

  6. It's not a bad audition song - but just to throw a spanner in the works, it is always best to audition for a Sondheim show with a Sondheim song.  If you have any Sondheim in your rep I'd be looking to do that - but if you don't, then go with what you've already chosen.
