ok i am going to try out for a musical on June 9th. I need a broadway song and we have to sing 16 bars of it. i need a song that i know or something. maybe one form one of my previous plays. I would like to do 1 from Little Shop of Horrors. it has to be upbeat too. if not then pick one that is really easy to learn. and it needs to showcase my voice. my voice is pretty flexable. thx. plzz help and quick.

  1. dont worry! there are tons of songs out there that will show out your voice and that will be really easy to learn! if you are familiar with Wicked or Hairspray or something like that, a couple good songs would be, Ladies Choice, Dancing through life, and all those types! The one i used for my last audition,Oliver!, was the song called Where is Love! That is a really easy song, and it will definitely show how well you can use your voice! So go ahead and check out those songs, and good luck with that audition! And if you can email me, that would be great, and let me know what your auditioning for and how it works out! I am a pretty good actor myself, ive starred in lots of musicals and plays! So email me, i would like to get to know you better! shaatdaakson@yahoo.com

  2. To disagree completely with the two above answers: don't sing On My Own (which is not upbeat anyway!), or anything else from Les Mis; don't sing anything from Wicked, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Phantom or RENT - they're all horribly overdone and you won't stand out from the crowd at all, plus the people you're auditioning for will be bored to tears with the song.  The problem with Audrey's solos from Little Shop is that they're not really upbeat - the Ronettes tend to sing the upbeat numbers and you can't sing a trio by yourself!  You could look at some of the classic musicals - If I Were A Bell from Guys and Dolls is a lovely song, or Confidence from the Sound of Music.  If You've Got It, Flaunt It from The Producers is a fun song, or you could have a crack at something from 42nd Street - lots of great uptempo numbers in that show.  If you're a soprano, I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady is a great song and not too difficult to learn quickly.  Also look at Cole Porter stuff - Anything Goes has some good songs in it, or There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This is a lovely uptempo from Sweet Charity which isn't done that often.

  3. Chose "On My Own" from Les Miserables ( beautiful song)

If not than do something from legally bond or something. =S
