So, I've just finished auditioning for 3 different a cappella groups here at the university of north carolina at chapel hill. All three auditions consisted of measuring my range, a one minute performance piece of my choosing, and a third section where I had to be able to listen to 5 or so notes played once, and then sing it back.
I'm a bass and my range went down to about a D or E in all the auditions. My upper range was really unimportant, b/c some wanted to see how high i could go w/o falsetto and some with it.
My one minute long piece was pretty good and everyone really liked it. It really showed off my full and "booming" bass voice.
The last part about tonal memory went ok to good.
There are a bunch of ppl trying out for all these groups, about 50 to 100 each I would guess.
Do y'all think I have much of a chance of getting a call back?
Most groups call back about 4-8 ppl, and then keep anywhere from 2-5 of the call backs.
Think anyone wants me?
