My local theater is doing auditions for a production of "West Side Story" soon. I really want to be a part of this, because it will be really good for my resume. However, I don't know much about the story & what not. Do you have any tips for when I go on my audition?

Thanks a ton:)

  1. Watch the movie! You could read up on the internet a little too > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Side_S...

Good luck! Sounds like fun :)

  2. Watch the movie.  We did West Side Story at our high school last year and we all had to watch the film.

  3. It's 'Romeo and Juliet" set in New York City.

Tough show - it really requires triple threats for most of the roles. There will definitely be a serious dance audition, and if you make callbacks, you'd better listen to the score a LOT. Bernstein wrote great music, but it's very tricky, with lots of unusual time signatures and rhythms. It would be dangerous to try to sightread this one.

Great show, though, one of the best. You'll love it if you get in!
