  1. try checking with your states film commission for info, get hold of a copy of the actors handbook. plenty of info. if you're interested in dance, checkout  modern jazz/hip hop dance -instructors/choreographers, who can train you in the steps routines and terms used by stage choreographers in auditions, where responding correctly, and quickly to instructions, will help you make it to the final cut. in movie/stage production, auditions make use of monologues by those trying out, if it's singing, have your key for the accompanyist to play for you, and a selection of sheet music ready, there may be call backs and cold reads, where you read sections of the script with some one they have  to read with you.. you may need to get a good clear, crisp headshot 8x10 in color. a resume on the reverse side, with your name contact info age, d.o.b. sizes, personal descript,eg: ht. wght. skin color, hair/eyes. talents, musical instruments, singing, accents, languages etc. other skills, training, performing resume listing, and video/sound clips of your work to send to agents/ casting directors. check out your detroit news office for audition casting call info. or for any one they know to ask or see.. news people are usually well connected, as you need to be to find what you need for info and opportunities to audition and start building up credits and contacts, getting an agents interest. avoid anyone who wants money up front. agents make a small around10% commission after your hired and get paid, they can find casting calls/auditions that seem to fit you, you audition to get a part and get hired by selection.. audition for stage, film, commercials, tv, print media. build up credits. and exposure. if you land a part, let agents know, if they don't see you they may call someone to watch. you never know who is in the audience. who may be thinking of casting a future production.good luck.be sure a parent goes to the audition with you, if you are hired, they will have to sign forms so you can work. you will need a copy of birth cert. and soc. sec. card with you.as well
