Audley Harrison: Keep dreaming, keep believing and never give up – Boxing News
After being knocked out by fellow countryman David Price in the initial 80 seconds of the fight, Audley Harrison believes he still believes he still can make it big in the boxing world. Harrison released a public statement, speaking about his preparation
for the fight, his defeat to Price and how he is going to take on his career from now on.
“Firstly, I want to congratulate David Price and his team on executing his game-plan so effectively. I said I had prepared very well for this bout and it showed…I was in great shape and went out there with no fear, believing I could win it. I was really
in the zone, didn’t get fazed by the crowd, or atmosphere and stay focused on the task. After 8 years, I finally had control of myself again,” read Harrison’s statement.
The statement further talks about Harrison’s game plan. According to the Olympian, he wanted to avoid Price’s right but he was lined up which was a disappointment for him. He adds that ‘father time’ has caught up with him. The Olympian asserts he could not
see Price’s initial shot and so he could not react to it.
Harrison appreciated Price saying that young Briton heavyweight finished him like a good pro, and so there is nothing he (Harrison) regrets.
“He finished me off like a good pro, so I have no complaints. I have a broken nose for my troubles, so I didn’t get away Scott free,” he added.
Harrison did shed light over possible retirement but did not confirm it. The Briton heavyweight wants to take his time to think it out. He added that he would never want to step back in the ring once he retires.
Audley Harrison suffered a broken nose by a huge shot by Price. However, the injury is not as grave as many thought it could be.
For now, Audley Harrison believes it might be his time to hang up his glove. He has appreciated everyone who has ever helped him out, worked with him and motivated him to become a professional boxer.
