Audley Harrison recommended to rest for four weeks after severe right elbow contusion – Boxing news
Audley Harrison, who was getting ready to make comeback grand after his David Haye 2010 engagement, has faced serious elbow injury during a sparring session, as a result the 40-year-old has been strictly advised to refrain from any kind of practice sessions
especially punching.
The veteran pugilist was scheduled to take on the 30-year-old Ali Adams in a non-title 10-round bout. The skirmish was formerly scheduled to take place on April 14, 2012 but now after Audley’s right elbow injury, the extravaganza has been postponed and will
take place on May 26, 2012.
According to the details, Harrison who recently kicked off his training session came to Eric S. Honbo, a physician at Advanced Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine who tried to diminish the pain by using Ice and electrical steam machine. The ailment did
not resolve at all and Eric referred Audley to Dr Luga Podesta who advised an MRI.
The scan reports revealed that the damage is serious, to be specific a deep bone contusion in the right elbow. After careful considering the pros and cons both the doctors and Audley’s staff requested Harrison to rest and recuperate from his injury within
four weeks and till then do not get involved in any kind of punching sessions.
Audley who got frustrated at the injury scenario assured his fans and specifically Ali Adams that he is ready to silence his impudent boastful talk adding that he is extremely raged at not getting ready for the bout till the former scheduled date.
Harrison commented, “I’m so frustrated to pick up this injury just when I started to step up my training with sparring. Even though I’m 40 years young, and ring rust is not easy to shake off, I felt good in sparring. I’ll keep in shape and as soon as I can
start punching again, I’m off …I already know Ali Adams has talked himself into a lot of trouble come May 26th. I will be there on 26th May!!!”
Audley, on the other hand, has dubbed Harrison’s injury as a ‘hoax to get more time to prepare’ but at the same time reiterated that he will definitely put an end to Audley’s career once and for all.
The ring for the heavyweight non-title bout will be set up at Brentwood Centre situated in Brentwood, Essex, United Kingdom and the event will be promoted by Steve Goodwin.
