Audrey Lacroix acquires Women’s 200m butterfly gold - Canadian Olympic & Paralympic Trials
Audrey Lacroix of PPO acquired gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on fourth day of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Trials in Montreal on Friday, March 30.
Lacroix, who made her way into the final round as top fastest swimmer, met expectations of her fans by sprinting her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. Her stupendous effort gave no chance to her challengers to retaliate and she secured the podium
for gold medal.
Lacroix ensured her top fastest finish in the event by completing her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 09.01 seconds. Her title claiming effort remained 0.77 seconds ahead of Katerine Savard of CSQ, who seized the podium for silver medal by hitting the wall
with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.78 seconds.
The silver medallist remained 0.59 seconds ahead of Mackenzie Downing, who sustained her pace in the final round and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 10.37 seconds.
She was followed by Noemie Thomas of VAND, who remained almost three seconds slower from proving her mettle for third position and ended fourth by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 13.09 seconds.
The fourth position holder was followed by Erin Miller of UOFA, who suffered a loss of 0.37 seconds from her former finisher and emerged on the finishing end as fifth position holder by posting a time of 2 minutes and 13.46 seconds.
Miller was chased by Brenna MacLean of WVOSC, who snared sixth finishing spot of the discipline by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 14.46 seconds. The seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Devon Bibault of EKSC, who ended her swim by clocking
a time of 2 minutes and 15.85 seconds.
Bibault was chased by Terri Lynn Benison of HTAC, who accomplished eighth position of the discipline by completing her race in a time of 2 minutes and 16.19 seconds.
Lacroix will now represent her country at the 2012 London Olympic Games. She was delighted with her effort and stressed that she will try to make her fans proud at the upcoming Olympics.
