Audrey Lacroix and Peng Wu win butterfly heats - 2011 North Carolina Charlotte UltraSwim
Audrey Lacroix and Peng Wu dominated the preliminary rounds of Women’s and Men’s 200m butterfly respectively, on third day of the 2011 North Carolina Charlotte UltraSwim.
The session included the preliminary rounds of the 200m butterfly, 50m freestyle and the 100m backstroke in the Men’s and Women’s category.
The session initiated with the Women’s 200m butterfly, where the Audrey Lacroix of PO Montreal dominated the heats by qualifying as the fastest swimmer into the finals, posting a time of 2:11.37 minutes. She was followed by Katinka Hosszu and Kathleen Hersey,
who occupied as the second and third fastest swimmers with a timing of 2:11.53 and 2:11.90 minutes, respectively.
Moments later, Peng Wu of Club Wolverine dominated the Men’s 200m butterfly by proving his eligibility for the fastest qualification spot in 2:01.60 minutes. Wu was followed by the 2008 Beijing Olympics Champion, Michael Phelps, who transpired as the second
fastest swimmer in a time of 2:01.83 minutes. The third spot was secured by Daniel Madwed of Club Wolverine, who touched the wall in 2:02.75 minutes.
Then, Madison Kennedy of Unattached-PC demonstrated her aggressive swimming skills in the Women’s 50m freestyle, occupying the fastest qualification spot into the finals with a timing of 25.54 seconds. Amanda Weir of Swim Atlanta and Jessica Hardy of Trojan
Swim Club qualified as the second and third fastest swimmers, clocking a time of 25.55 and 25.58 seconds, respectively.
After few minutes, Josh Schneider appeared as the fastest swimmer in the Men’s 50m freestyle by touching the wall in a time of 22.80 seconds. Nick Brunelli and Cullen Jones followed him into the finals as the second and third fastest swimmers, reporting
a time of 22.86 and 22.96 seconds, respectively.
Later, Rachel Bootsma displayed a wonderful swim in the Women’s 100m back-stroke, occupying the fastest qualification spot in a time of 1:00.90 minutes. She was followed by Elizabeth Pelton and Missy Franklin, who appeared second and third fastest on the
wall in 1:00.93 and 1:01.02 minutes, respectively.
The finals of the same events will take place in today’s second session, where the winners will earn medals for their wonderful performance as swimmers.
