Today is a public holiday in Canada. How do I find out which malls and stores are opened in the GTA?

  1. The person above me went way off on your question. She provided unnecessary information that has nothing to do with your question. Anyways, you could simply just call the mall and find out if they are open or closed. All the malls were open, they just closed at an earlier time - at 6:00 pm.

    Here are highlights of events, what’s open and what’s closed this holiday weekend:

    Sunday events

    The Caribana Lime-Island Festival will be held on Olympic Island today from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Caribana celebrations will wrap up tonight.

    The seventh annual Irie music festival will runs along Wellesley St. W. through Queen’s Park through Tuesday.

    Roads, highways and transit

    Ontario Provincial Police will be using two planes to keep an eye on major highways throughout the long weekend, watching for speeders, drivers following too closely, and cars weaving in and out of traffic.

    The TTC will be operating as usual this weekend, with Monday’s Simcoe Day civic holiday taking on the same schedule as Sunday – but starting at 6 a.m..

    Go Transit will operate on a holiday schedule Monday.

    Closed Monday

    Toronto City Hall and most major city buildings will be closed, as well as all government offices, banks and libraries.

    Most malls and stores will be open.

    The LCBO will be operating as usual Sunday, and approximately 350 stores across Ontario will remain open on Monday. Look for signs in stores for hours or call 1-800-ONT-LCBO for details.

    Simcoe Day events

    Fort York (100 Garrison Rd) is holding a Simcoe Day celebration with free admission, activities and special guests, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

    Gibson House (5172 Yonge St.) The 1851 farm home of David and Eliza Gibson offers free admission from noon to 5 p.m., with costumed guides, homemade ice cream and children’s activities.

    Scarborough Rib Fest (Thomson Memorial Park) runs Sunday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Monday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

    The Blue Jays play the Oakland As at the Rogers Centre on Monday, with the game scheduled to start shortly after 6 p.m. Fireworks will follow 20 minutes after the game.
