I have a Mirena iud (plastic T) and have loved it for 2 1/2 years now. This is the first time my period is missing! I'm 5 days late. My lmp was April 3 (spots) and april 4 (light) and then on the 13 & 14 i had a spot of old blood once each day, when i wiped. I have had a headache for two weeks and slight nasea, and my b***s hurt like h**l! I have two boys, but i dont know whats going on, because of the mirena. I took a first response on the 29 (1st day missed) got a weird positive, then a neg ept on fri, sat and mon. Now im just waiting for time to pass for dear Auntie or the hcg to build up. I called the ob/gyn this morning and they sed its norm to skip a period with Mirena. I have never skipped! I dont think its normal. Can anyone relate?

  1. After prolonged use, about a year, something like 20% of women on this birth control have no period.  It can be a NORMAL side effect of the Mirena IUD.  It is something like 99.9% effective supposedly.  You do know that Mirena has a slow release of hormones don't you?  Sometimes over time they think this IUD can even stop ovulation.  Good luck.

  2. I had never had a missed period before either, but one month i missed my period and it still didnt come the month after, i took multiple pregnancy tests but they were all neg.  The next month it returned to normal! I was told that if you are under a huge amount of stress or are worrying a lot it can cause you  to miss a period. I would take a look back and see if you have been under alot of stress lately.. that may be it. Or if you are really worried you should wait a week and then go get a blood test. Hope this helps...

  3. If the professionals told you it is normal to skip a period, why would you ask people here?

  4. Im not on mirena but since its your first time missing after two years you should go get a blood test done
