Aurelio De Laurentiis insists Manchester City cannot afford Edinson Cavani – Football News

Napoli chairman has revealed that Manchester City have pulled out of the race for signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 champions showed keen interest for the player but the buy-out clause for the
striker is too high for them.
Manchester City are keen to add attacking options to the squad after they failed to defend the Premier League title last season. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez and Edin Dzeko keen to depart before the start of the next season, the club wants
to buy a world-class striker that could partner http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero in attack.
Laurentiis claimed that City were initially in talks to sign the forward but pulled out as they were not willing to pay the Uruguayan international’s €63 million buy-out clause. He admitted that the English giants could have only
bought the player if they sold some player or if they offered a player in exchange.
However, the chairman is not convinced with City’s valuation for the players to be involved in the player exchange deal.
“City said that they can't pay €63m for Cavani. They can only afford Cavani if they sell first. I could accept a part-exchange deal if the players proposed are attached with a figure that represents the actual value of the player,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The chief added that City had offered Dzeko in a player exchange deal but admitted that the Manchester-based side are overvaluing the player. He stressed that Dzeko has had less playing time in the previous season and that the
former Wolfsburg man is not the player he used to be two years ago.
“[Edin] Dzeko for example, is no longer what he once was, he was not a starter last season. He did not perform how he did in the Bundesliga [with Wolfsburg]. This is assuming that Dzeko wants to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, of course,” he concluded.
Edinson Cavani has found the net a staggering 104 times in the 138 appearances for Napoli in all competitions. He is currently on international duty with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858.
