Hi, does anyone here know (or learning) Auslan? I just want to know is it hard to learn and how long does it take to learn? Thanks. :-)

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. :-)

  1. SIGN LANGUAGE IS NOT AN INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE!!!

My goodness... there are still people that think that. I know ASL (American Sign Language) and LSA (Argentinian Sign Language) and have seen different sign languages around the earth and... NO, SIGN LANGUAGE IS NOT INTERNATIONAL.

It's like saying that all the world speaks in English, or Chinese, or Spanish, or any other spoken language. Sign languages are connected to the Deaf community of a determined area. Even in countries with same spoken languages generally is not the same Sign Language used. E.g.: USA, UK, Australia all use spoken English but they use ASL, BSL, AUSLAN and so on.

Don't be sorry, this is the right section to ask this question.

I don't know specifically AUSLAN but like any other language, the more you practice and get immersed in it the easier it is to learn it.

  2. IF YOU ARE ALREADY USING THE SIGN LANGUAGE  IS NO DIFFERENT OF WHAT YOU KNOW

    SIGN LANGUAGE IS INTERNATIONAL
