when shopping.we really cant use cardboard boxes or paper bags,thats destroying our forests.most things we buy at the super-markets come in plastic or paper products.What is the solution.?

I think that it makes people more aware of their habits when being charged. I think that the solution is using recycled products to make reusable bags as well as for the boxes and bags the products come in. Unfortunately that will take an effort on our part as well as the willingness of the company to make them.

Moves are towards those recycled plastic 'green bags', the reuseable ones that you get at most supermarkets.  It means a small change in behaviour, as you need to take your supply of such bags with you when you shop.

I managed the change easily enough.  Boxes and paper bags are an issue too: they break down better in landfill, but still use resources in production and are usually single use.

I have no problem with the charge, but I am conserned as to whether it will just go as profit to the supermarkets with them giving a token mandated amount to spurious environmental causes.  Taking that money into general revenue is just as bed.  I would have no issue with that money going into health care or genuine environmental programmes, as long as they are transparent and the public know where the money goes..

Green bags or bags made from hemp rather than plastic.  

Factories could cut down on packaging.  Have you seen how much packaging one tampon has?  They need not be all individually wrapped.  They can be hygenically placed in cardboard box.

After thinking about it. Nothing can be done. Its just another tax by political hacks. Its happening over here in the US too.

I would like to go one on one with those environmentalists, just for one round. GRRRRR>...
