Aussie's, do i have to tell centrelink?

I have a 5month old son and am about to return to work part-time to my old job. I recieve salary sacrafice there, so do i need to report the amount that i sacrafice as earnings for my family tax benefit?, or because it's tax free, do i not have to report it? Thanks, also do i need to claim the amount that i sacraficed at the end of financial year tax return?

  1. I would report it to be on the safe side. Any money you receive you really have to tell them. You don't want to end up being prosecuted, do you? I don't know how much it is, but I would tell them to be on the safe side. Better to be safe than sorry.


  2. You should report it just be to be safe. If you over estimate, you get the money back anyway.

    I think the best thing to do would be to ring them on 13 61 50 just to double check. At least then they will have a note in your file that you have rung to ask about it just incase wrong information was given to you over the phone. I have had this happen before (not with working) but with the pension and I got them to go back to my file and see the phone call I had with them.
