Aussie Coach Denies Infighting
The Australian coach Tim Nielsen has finally come out denying rumours of infighting within the Australian national team. The rumours had now been circulating for over a month, but the coach had not given any statement of denial
or acceptance. Now, after Australia halted their seven straight losses streak in the third and final One-day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, the head coach has come out against the rumours of some sort of infighting within the players.
According to Nielsen, the team is not in a state of panic even after losing seven international matches in a row. The Australian media has been critical of its national side over the past few months and all sorts of media reports
have been surfacing regarding problems in the dressing room of the national squad. It has been widely reported that certain players are not satisfied with the way Michael Clarke has been leading the team. It has also been reported that Michael Hussey and Michael
Clarke do not get along very well and have been facing problems communicating with each other. This report has periodically been denied by Michael Hussey as well as Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120.
Tim Nielsen has strongly criticised those people who have been spreading rumours of disharmony in the Australian squad. He believes that whenever the team loses a few matches all sorts of rumours are bombarded to discredit the
national squad.
Nielsen said, “As is often the case as soon as we lose a couple of games there is all sorts of talk about disharmony and infighting within the team.” He went on to say, “This couldn’t be further from the truth and a standard barb
thrown by those outside the group searching for a reason why we are losing. Ultimately, we lost because we didn’t bat, bowl or field well enough.”
The centre of all these reports has been Michael Clarke. The leadership of the vice-captain has come under fire by everyone in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and there is a strong opinion in the country against giving him the realms of the national
team after Ricky Ponting retires.
The Australian Cricket Board and the Australian head coach, however, are adamant at keeping Michael Clarke in line for captaincy after Ricky Ponting. Even after most players have come out in support of the young middle order batsmen
Marcus North, they still believe that Michael Clarke is the best man to lead Australia in the future. In addition, Michael Hussey in a recent interview accepted the fact that Clarke has the best cricketing mind in the team.
Nielsen believes that the defeats at the hands of the Sri Lankans in a home series were useful, as it helped the team pin point the weaknesses that exist in the squad and now the players and management are working to eliminate
them before the Ashes.
The past few months have been critical for Australia because they lost their top ranking in Test cricket and have faced defeats in ODIs and T20s as well. Australian cricket is in turmoil at present, as they had been on a bandwagon
of success for almost a decade, but now they have faced back-to-back defeats in almost all three formats of the game. The Australians are not used to facing losses and with seven consecutive defeats now, Australian cricket is stuck in a hornets’ nest.
