What the cheapest way to stay in Melbourne or Sydney especially if your on a budget?

Is it safe to travel alone or is it best to be with a friend or two?

  1. Although there are the obvious variations, summer is warm to hot, it averages around 27 degrees celsius but there are the occasional days that hit the 40 mark. The noticeable difference though is the humidity which is quite high in Sydney in summer. In winter in doesn't get Montreal or Green Bay cold, the coldest it will get is around 8 degrees celsius at night. The legal drinking age is 18 and this is strictly enforced in pubs and clubs these days.

A lot of people on a budget stay at backpackers hostels, the popular ones are around the bondi-coogee area, others are in grittier areas such as Kings Cross. In the past groups of backpackers have branched out to rent apartments but there is a rental crisis in Sydney at the moment with up to 50 people applying for a single rental property. I believe that it is quite safe in Australia with most violence usually alcohol related at closing time of large pubs, but it sure pays to be careful and traveling with others is more ideal as well as a bit more restrictive in my opinion.

  2. OK, All my answers will be from Sydney area.

Weather-Winter 18 degrees, little cooler around me as i live near the beach

-Summer 27-30 degrees, it gets hot

Drinking age- 18, yes we know, that law is awesome

Cheapest- Probably Melbourne, but if u want to come to Sydney perhaps staying in places like Newtown or Balmain is a little cheaper and easy access to the city

Travel- we are a safe nation, but bring a friend if u can, not only will u feel safer, but no one wants to party alone.

  3. Hey!

The weather in Sydney is generally mild. The summers are warm and winter isn't as extreme compared to other cities. Rainfall is spread throughout the year.

The legal drinking age is 18+ and it is strictly enforced. If you try to enter clubs, they WILL request your ID. They have laws they must follow or they can be hit with big fines. So do you.

Travelling in Sydney is generally safe. At night, you may want to have company as a few places are unsafe during the night, especially the inner and most outer suburbs.

I hope this helps and good luck!

  4. dont forget our seasons are different to yours, winter is like june time here, and summer december and january mainly.. lol

  5. http://www.clickforaustralia.com/Climate...

This site will give you details on the weather here.

You can drink at the age of 18.

You will be safe to travel alone if you are sensible and don't put yourself in any vunerable positions. If you are on a budget you will want to stay in Backpackers accomodation. Here you will meet up with other travellers.

  6. Melbourne is a cheap place to stay, me n my friends go there just for shopping cuz its cheap, but sydney where i live is quite exspensive i'll tell you.

18 is the legal age to drink.

And if you look up some travel sites im sure theyl have cheap packages on air fares and accomodation.

  7. Usually in summer it is mild (sometimes can get really hot though) but currently we are on our TWELFTH DAY OF RAIN/STORM and it is summer (?!?!) winters are cold for me, but apparently my teacher's english friend decided that winter weather in aus was just the right temperature for a dip in the sea :)

There are a few dodgy areas in Syd but generally people are friendly all around. I think you'll be okay by yourself.
