Aussie Mark Hunt takes on Dutch Stefan Struve in a non-title bout in UFC 146 – UFC News
Mark Hunt, the Aussie mixed martial art heavyweight brawler, who has just made himself a three-bout win streak, will take on young emergent Dutch prospect, Stefan Struve in a non-title three-round bout on May 27, 2012.
The duo will appear in somewhat a unique pay-per-view setup by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for the first time in its history. UFC 146 will have on its main fight card, all heavyweight brawls and no bout from any other division has been made part
of it.
The special edition will be headlined by the championship brawl between Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem and the octagon will be raised at MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Mark started his UFC career with a loss and amidst much despair since he was coming from a huge 5-bout lose streak while fighting in various promotions. Hunt, a former Kickboxer, has been in a total 15 mixed martial art bouts and came out victorious in just
eight.
Infamous as the ‘Super Samoan’, Hunt is the first ever belligerent who was successful in nailing Wanderlei Silva. Stefan, on the other hand, also known as the ‘Skyscrapper’, has been in a total 28 bouts and came out victorious in 23.
He has collected a whopping 15 wins by submission, six by knockout and one by decision. The young Struve possesses a pretty intimidating resume and is a tough opponent.
The Dutch Skyscrapper started his UFC career by taking on Junior Dos Santos, the current heavyweight champion, and lost the bout via total knockout. Stefan will have the height advantage in his gear but Mark does not seem intimidated by the young lad’s 6
foot 11 inch height.
Mark who recently knocked out the French number one heavyweight Cheick Kongo, commented, “I’m looking forward to fighting him, it’s another step towards getting that belt. (His reach) doesn’t concern me at all, I’ll get right under his reach and under his
nose quick-smart, it won’t bother me.
Hunt commented that he is not intimidated by Stefan at all and remarked, “Everyone has a lot more experience than him, he’s only 24 years old. He’s a young kid.” Despite the fact that Mark feels absolutely confident, the 37-year-old veteran still praised
and denoted Struve as a man who is coming to win the bout.
Hunt said, “Just because he’s young doesn’t mean he’s going to lose, we’ll see what happens in the fight.” Mark is a powerful jabber and relies heavily on his powerful body and huge jabs, the reason why he has collected five of his total wins by knockout.
