What are those people called that run onto the ground to tell the players where to go, there always on the phone to the coach? I really want to become one but I am not sure what there called.

  1. They are runners and they are often ex-players or people who have had some kind of association with the club. Although I am sure that there must be some way to apply for the job. All I can recommend is that you email your local or favourite club.

    Like any job, you probably have to start at the bottom and work your way to the top, and I hope that you are extremely fit and that you have good awareness; we have seen a few runners get into strife on the ground in recent years!


  2. You become one by starting at a local club and working your way up .. or you are an ex player AFL player with no job prospects lol. My partner is a runner for our local club and loves it, just volunteer Im sure they will be happy to have you. Good luck

  4. Yes they are, Im family friends with the Geelongs trainer, & My dads work mates works for the western bulldogs.
