Aussie Su-Hyun Oh in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur
The Australian player Su-Hyun Oh has once again proven her golf skills and will now play in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Su-Hyun Oh qualified for the quarterfinals after her match against the Philippines player Jayvie Marie Agojo. This match proved to be a tough match, with Agojo offering a tough game at every hole.
However, Oh proved to be the better player and won the game 4 and 3. Su-Hyun Oh has been going strong ever since she entered the match play stage of the event.
Her first match was in the round of 64, where she faced Holly Clyburn of England. The match proved to be exciting with both Oh and Clyburn moving in the lead at various holes. The final result was in Oh’s favour with a 4 and 2 win.
Su-Hyun Oh next faced Maia Schechter who had beaten Alina Ching in her first round match. This match was a bit easy for Oh who won the match with a score of 5 and 4. This win brought Oh to the round of 16 where she met and defeated Agojo.
The quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur are considered to be the toughest round of the tournament. The very best players reach the quarterfinals and face another top talent who has beaten three opponents in the previous three rounds.
Oh will play against Nicole Zhang, who has established a reputation of being a tough opponent. The first two rounds proved to be easy for the Canadian player as the opponents were not skilled enough to defeat her. However, Cyna Rodriguez did give her a tough
time in the round of 32.
The only real opponent that Zhang faced in the tournament so far is the South Korean player Hyo-Joo Kim. Kim was the medallist in the qualifying round and was determined to give everyone a tough time in the match play stage.
The match between Zhang and Kim proved to be exciting as two highly talented players battled it out for the right to play in the quarterfinal. Zhang won in the end with a score of 1 up.
