Aussie golfer, Robert Allenby, trapped in dilemma - Mayakoba Golf Classic
The race for Mayakoba Golf Classic is becoming increasingly exciting and cutthroat. The continuously surging number of top position contenders, along with the latest entrant, Robert Allenby, has added further exhilaration to the event.
Prior to him, players like Greg Owens, Will Claxton and Daniel Summerhays had stabilised their position in the top-tier.
Out of all others, Owens, with the help of five birdies and one bogey, was able to override his first round competitor Claxton.
Will, on the other hand, secured the lead in the first round with 68 on the scoreboard. Summerhays, with a blistering 65 also accommodated himself in the squad of leaders.
Daniel holed first four birdies in the seven holes. However, the bogey he made on the ninth provided him with a slight jolt.
This was easily compensated by the help of three birdies that allowed him to finish strong.
Another key contender that poses serious threat to the dominion of these three players is the amateur American golfer Chris Stroud.
With his five-under 66, the golfer has tied for the next best position with Swede Richard S Johnson, Australian Robert Allenby and American Kevin Stadler.
Other than Allbery, no other Australian has been able to gain a commendable position in the event.
It is also important to mention that his compatriots include Nathan Green (69), Jarrod Lyle (69) and Gavin Coles (71).
All three golfers who made their cut in the final two rounds of the event are contesting against each other for the 36th position.
Other than this, another American golfer, John Huh, is battling for the eighth spot. His one-under-70 score can play a pivotal role in helping him secure this position.
On the other hand, the ninth position in the event will witness battle between five players. This will also include Charles Howell III, with this four-under score.
According to pundits, the results of Mayakoba Golf Classic have been most shocking. This has been because of the disqualification or the poor performance of the best of golf.
Greg Norman, the designer of El Camaleon Course, failed to make his mark in the event. The group of disappointments also included Mike Weir, who because of his elbow injury and subsequent surgery, showed that he needs more rest before making his way back
into the course.
