Hi, i'm 21 from Australia, and coming to Canada in about a year or so for 2 years on a visa. I'm still in agony making the tough decision as to where it is i would like to stay while i'm there lol :P But I want to ask - Will I really have a terrible quality of life if I stay in Montreal because I don't know french? I mean, I would be happy to try and learn before i go but surely you cant learn much in 12 months, will I struggle to find a job etc in Montreal? Any help would be great! Cheers

  1. to be honest, on most of the provences near quebec and including quebec, you cant get a really good job if you arnt bilingual, or close to it. australia isnt really a bilingual country, so its not like that there, but youd be better off going to the west, like AB or BC.

Eventually you'd adapt and learn to speak french pretty well, but you need to do more research than just asking on Yahoo Answers before immagrating to a different language country.

  2. most montrealers are bilingual. you will do fine even if you don't speak french. i don't know much about the job situation in montreal ecxept there aren't as many jobs there as there are in toronto.
