Aussie selectors acknowledge rivalry between Haddin and Wade – Cricket News Update
Following the inclusion of two wicketkeepers, veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, in the national squad for the upcoming series in the West Indies, Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel has admitted that there is bound to be a rivalry
between the two players.
Question marks hung over Haddin’s career after the selectors did not include his name in the line-up for the ongoing Commonwealth Banks series, following his mediocre performances in the Test leg of India’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 earlier this year. Confusion
and rumours followed his exclusion from the squad, with the panel maintaining that he had been rested, while the wicketkeeper batsman admitted that he felt he had been dropped.
He was replaced by the 24-year-old Wade, whose performances in the T20 circuit, with both bat and glove earned the selectors’ approval, who went on to include the left-hander in the ODI team .
With the Test squad yet to be announced, the decision to include two glove men for the limited-over leg puts added pressure on Haddin to quickly get back among the runs, or else suffer a probable axe from the longer version as well where currently, he holds
ascendency over his younger teammate.
“There's the possibility there,” chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980, acknowledged, referring to the fact that Wade could replace Haddin in the Test series against the Caribbean side if he performed well enough in the preceding 5-match ODI series, and two T20
games.
“At this moment Brad is our Test wicketkeeper. If Matthew does extraordinarily well, of course he comes in to contention there. There's rivalry in any touring party … there's nothing new there.”
“In competitive sport friendly rivalry pushes each other to greater heights. I think they'll do that in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and I think they're both looking forward to working together,” Inverarity added.
This was acknowledged by Wade himself, who said that he was keen for the opportunity to learn from the elder, more experienced player. He also claimed that he had not thought about Test matches, and was concentrating on performing well in the limited-overs
leg of the tour.
