I just found out about moringa oleifera from a question on YA, and read that it is highly nutritious and has many non-food uses also.

Here are some useful links about moringa [also known as the 'drumstick tree']:

  1. Not that I've heard of.

It looks like a very useful tree throughout the 3rd world.

However, I would hope that the 'powers that be' do extensive research before any thought of introducing it commercially into Australia.

I see from various sites that it is 'extremely prolific' and 'grows anywhere' etc. An excellent reason to keep it under control so that it doesn't end up being tomorrow's lantana, prickly pear, jacaranda, chinese elm, african tulip, poinciana etc -- all of which have successfully and detrimentally invaded the country.

  2. Can't say I've heard of it but try farmers markets. If in Melbourne try the Queen Victoria markets and speak to some of the sellers, also there big farmers market in Sydney I think its at Haymarket? Or even drive out of the city to a small town's local markets like Berry if in NSW.
