Aussies answer pls, cracked car windscreen?

In australia is it illegal to have drive with a cracked windscreen...it happened when i was driving, a small stone hit it. Its a small crack. passenger side. I have heard that, you could get pulled up by cops... they can fine you. Im covered by insurance..just want to know.....thanks
