Newly appointed Australian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the Test series.
The 30-year-old batsman praised his team and asserted that all the Aussies have worked their hearts out during the series and are stoked after winning it.
Australia not only won the Test series but also managed to clinch the ODI series by three games to two.
Expressing his views in an interview, Clarke said, “I'm pretty happy and I'm not the only one in that changing room, all the boys are stoked. It's been a fantastic tour, both the one-day series and this Test series have certainly
gone to plan. Everybody has contributed and that's probably the most pleasing thing.”
Aussies were leading the three match Test series by one game to nil before the final Test started at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo. Lankans had the upper hand in most part of the match but Clarke played a sterling innings
of 112 runs which helped his side in securing a draw.
The Captain of the Aussie side wanted his side to win all matches in their tour; however, he was content with the outcome of the series.
“I said before the start of this Test match that our goal was to win every game we play, unfortunately that didn't happen but we got the two major results, we won both series, so I'm really proud of how the boys have played and
personally it was nice to finally get those three figures,” said Clarke.
When asked how he felt after scoring a vital hundred, the 30-year-old batsman said that he was long overdue for a big one, as his performance had taken a slump in Tests, so to get to three figures after all this time was perhaps
one of the best moments in his cricketing career.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 started day five of the Colombo Test with a lead of 52 runs and eight wickets in hand. Clarke was accompanied by Philip Hughes; both batsmen had overnight scores of 8 and 122 respectively. The Aussie skipper was given
a life early in the day and he made the opposition pay for their mistake.
According to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, the first 20 runs scored were perhaps the toughest runs he scored. However, the pitch flattened afterwards, which propelled Clarke not to take any undue risk of declaring the innings, considering Lankans were
the one requiring the win.
