Aussies’ series win against England boosts their morale
Australia defeated England by 57 runs in the last of the seven-match ODI series at WACA, Perth and sealed the series 6-1 and enhanced their chances in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2011.
English team had been troubled by injuries during the series which caused their downfall. England would be disappointed over its performance at a point when it desperately needed some victories as morale booster ahead of the mega event.

James Anderson picked up three wickets after giving away only 48 runs in his 10 overs. His performance was commendable, especially considering the fact that he was very expensive in the sixth ODI. Liam Plunkett and Michael Yardy picked up two wickets each for the visitors.
In chasing a huge target, the English team fell in trouble at the very outset when both the openers were sent back to the pavilion with only five runs on the board. None of the English top order batsmen could resist the Aussie bowlers, who bundled them out for only 222 runs in 44th over.
Batting at number seven, Michael Yardy was the only batsman to have shown resistance against the Australian bowlers, as he scored 60 runs off 76 balls and remained unbeaten. He scored three fours and a six, while he ran out of partners on the other end.
Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson picked up three wickets each for the Aussies. Jason Krejza who was making his debut in ODI cricket, took a couple of wickets whereas Doug Bollinger and John Hastings also claimed a scalp each to halt the English team’s progress.
