Aussies still in command at Mission Hills World Cup of Golf: Live leaderboard
Aussie duo of Brendan Jones and Richard Green have decided to dig deeper to into their overnight lead and have pulled in another impressive front nine on the second day of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup of Golf at the scenic Mission Hills GC, Hainan,
China. With an overnight score of 61, the Aussies have pulled in two birdies and another eagle so far, dropping one shot on the front. They had an amazing unblemished round on the Four-Ball session yesterday where they carded no fewer than two eagles and some
seven birdies in all.
German team of Martin Kaymer and Alex Cejka were also the early movers of the day, pulling in two holes on the Foursomes on Friday. They lost the par-four, 9th and are still working for the rest of the remaining holes.
Irish Team, who surged into contention later in the evening on the first day, are still going strong with three birdies on the front nine and pose a serious threat to the hard-earned Aussie lead. Playing partners Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy, both US
Open winners, pulled in an amazing 63 in the Four-Ball session to trail the leaders by two shots.
Scotsmen Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher, who shot into contention in the opening round, have made less progress in the morning and have pulled in just birdie so far on the front nine. The duo carded an amazing 63 on the first day, to finish for a joint
second with the Irish Team.
Colombian rampaging duo Camilo Villegas and Manuel Villegas have jumped to the fourth spot with their consistent strong putting throughout the two days. The team carded a round of 65 on the first day and have pulled in five birdies so far against a bogey
at par-four, 3rd and a terrible double bogey at par-four, 9th. They still have to finish the rest of the six remaining holes.
Iskandar Johor Open winner, just a fortnight ago, Joost Luiten played well on the opening day alongside his compatriot Robert-Jan Derksen but so far, has failed to keep up with the expectations. The duo has pulled in just two birdies and has dropped a shot
at par-four, 7th before making the turn.
