  1. well straight away the draw is out of the question (unless the weather takes hold), 260 on the last day or 7 wickets, i'm sure there will be a result one way or another

like Kookee and others have said here, Chanderpaul a key, we need to get him, and quickly, unfortunately, at the moment there just seems to be no way to get him out!! i for one am certain he has never been in better form.

as i said, he is a key, i think there is 4 keys to the last day, two on either side, as i said already Chanderpaul is the big one for the Windes, the other is Bravo, if we get both of these 2 before lunch, then its game over, if they are still there an hour after lunch, then i wouldnt say its game over, but jeez it will be close to it

3rd is australias (and Binga's favourite man) Brett Lee, it may be a little unfair to give him the responsibility of bowling us to victory tomorrow, but hes the spearhead and thats his job, and as we all know hes darn well good enough to do it, and finally, its a little unfair to heap the pressure on the debutant, but Beau Casson, tomorrow is your day to shine, on a 5th day wicket this is your opportunity to show what you are made of and help bowl your side to victory and make the spinners spot your own, dont get me wrong, i'm not saying he will be dropped if he doesnt get a bagful tomorrow, just that this is a big chance to show what hes made of and show all of us how good he is

Beau, get a good nights sleep mate, tomorrow could be the biggest day of your career thus far, best of luck pal

EDIT: i forgot as well, Ange said well done to the Kat on a career best, but lets not forget the bloke at the other end for most of his innings, Jaques had been under a little concern when he wasnt batting with Hayden as Haydens influence seemed to help him along and his performances without him hadnt been great, until now, well done Phil, you did good!

  2. There is very less chance of this match being a draw.  There are 240 runs to get for the Windies to win, and 7 wickets to get for the Aussies to win.  There are 90 overs left in the final day.  Therefore, both scenarios are possible.

At the moment though, it looks like its Australia's match for the taking.  Batting on the 5th day of a test is hard with the wicket crumbling.  So I think it will be Australia who will win this.

However, there is only one way this match will end in a draw.  If Australia get 2 early wickets tomorrow, the Windies will go into a shell and may opt for a draw by playing defensively.  But again, getting two early wickets will further make a case for an Aussie win rather than a draw.

Everything depends on how long the partnership of Chanderpaul and Bravo can continue.

  3. i dont think it will be a draw, because west indies only need 240 runs, which can be even achieved even if they go less than a paltry 2.5 runs an over.

i will say australia are still probaly favourites to win, but if west indies to win, they will need chanderpaul to stay till the end.

Who says test cricket is boring. This match is so exciting, the whole series has been really good, and surprisingly west indies have put up more than a good fight. If west indies can win this match, it will be a world record chase. how exciting.

i will say that australia hasnt looked as potent or clinical through the series. They also really struggled against india at home. Australia is going through a tough patch.

Ricky ponting isnt is normal self either.

When ponting gets a 30 or 20, you expect him to get at least a 70 or 80. most times an 100. This is the same story also for Rahul Dravid. It seems they are losing there concentration, or hunger.

  4. Has Ponting declared too early? 240 runs to win on the final day, seven wickets remaining, an immovable Chanderpaul at the crease, an attack almost wholly reliant on two bowlers, a slow pitch to negate the threat of those two bowlers.....

    It can't happen, can it?

  5. It wont be a draw

West Indies have batted very agressively in this innings so far (they are scoring at 4an over), so either Australia will take the 7 wickets to win the match OR West Indies will score the remaining 240 runs to win the match.

I think Australia will win the match, BUT the Windies will make a good fight of it. If West Indies had a stronger lower order, then the chances of West Indies winning would be much higher, BUT usually whenever Shiv Chanderpaul or Sarwan get out the West Indies crumble.

West Indies have a small chance of winning, but they need Chanderpaul to make a big 100 and they need a couple of support knocks from Bravo and Ramdin. Australia just have to be patient and make sure they take there chances. The pitch if offering a little bit of assitance so if the bowlers keep bowling good lines, then they should win the match!.

Chanderpaul holds the key though! the longer he stays in! the longer the Windies have a chance!

  6. Chances of match ending in a draw are very remote.  There wilkl be defenitely result either West Indies win or Australia win.  While getting 240 runs in 90 overs with 7 wickets in hand is attainable, One or two early wickets will tilt the match in favour of Australia.  So it is anybody's match at present with more advantage to Australia

  7. I hope not, but Ponting may have been a bit hasty in declaring. Has he forgotten SA ?

  8. WEll i think if Bravo and Chanderpaul stay in and make a stand then the West Indies have this 1..Yes it seems like a mean feat having to get yet another couple of hundred runs but we all know what Shiv Chanderpaul is capavle of we have seen it in the last 2 test matches..Bravo is in also,so fingers crossed Brett Lee or Mitchell Johnson can come out tomorrow anf grab a few quick wickets...

A BIG congratulations to Simon Katich-He scored 157-A career Best..Well donr to the Kat!!!
