Austin Trout reckons fighting David Lopez another step towards his ultimate goal – Boxing news
World Boxing Association’s number one ranked boxer in the light middleweight division, Austin Trout, is on his way to Mexico as he is set to make his first title defence against the 33-year-old David ‘The Destroyer’ Lopez on Saturday, June 11, 2011.
The bout will take place at the Auditorio Miguel Barragan in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
The 25-year-old unbeaten American pugilist, Trout, reckons he is much smarter than Lopez and can easily outclass him in the ring. Trout (22-0, 13 Knockouts) told the media he will keep beating guys like Lopez until he gets a chance against the best.
Though he admired Lopez is a good fighter and knows how to box, he said he can figure him out and if Lopez tries something new, he will handle it pretty easily.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “He’s a very tough guy. He’s much avoided and for good reason. His losses were early in his career. He’s strong. But, I’m not impressed. He’s had some impressive wins, but I’m not impressed. I take nothing away
from him, but I’m smarter and a better fighter. I can figure him out, but if he does something to upset my game plan, I have three hundred more I can go to. He has no answers for me. I’m the best and I’m ready to prove it against the best. Until they give
me that chance, I’ll beat up guys like this and wait.”
Austin ‘No Doubt’ Trout, who was born in Mexico, won both of his World Boxing Association’s Continental Americas championships and the world title in Mexico and therefore thinks that the Mexicans like him.
He commented that although he has been winning in Mexico, boxing is still alive over there. He said the Mexican people love to watch the bouts, as they always flock towards the Arena and towards the press conferences.
Let’s see if Trout once again manages to see off a Mexican in front of his home crowd or not.
