  1. Yea I did.  It was awesome.  I got a work visa through bunac.org.  I did it 3 times(4months each time).

  2. yeah go for it.

  3. Do what all the other young people from around the world do.  Join the backpacking set - stay in youth hostels (around $20 per night in a dormitary), get a Greyhound bus pass (eg. unlimited kilometers in 12 months - must go in one direction/no backtracking), pick up some casual work here and there (eg. fruit picking) and stay in a place for as long as you feel like and then move on.  It is pretty easy to get a one year travel/work visa if you are under 30 years of age.  You will get to meet heaps of people from all around the world, you will get to see some beautiful places in Australia and you will have a blast.  And you will probably want to move here permanently.

  4. Loads of people do it.

I live in a surfing town and we have heaps of travellers pass thru.

Have to warn you tho, you wont wanna leave!

  5. Expect to pay high rent and that's if you can get a rental property. They just said on the news last night that rents are going to rise another 50% over the next few years. What part of Australia where you looking at?, as this may give people some idea as to who can assist you.

  6. Its the number one thing for everyone to do in their 'gap' year - you certainly won't be alone and will meet hundreds of people doing the same- they usually start off in Asia and make their way here with a round the World airline ticket - If you get a work visa you can work your way around as it's now very expensive to travel around Oz and as said before - you probably won't want to leave!
