Cricket Australia has just announced australia's matches this year..The ones they intend to use instead of the tri-series matches...

1..What do you think of these matches?...AND

2..Will our summer be the same with out the tri-series?..1st time it will not be played in 30 years...Do you think that C.A should re-think there wievs on the Tri-Series matches?....

2008/09 Aussie schedule:....

Australia will play the Black Caps in Tests in Brisbane (starting November 20) and Adelaide (November 28-December 2).

They will then take on South Africa in Perth (December 12-16), Melbourne (December 26-30) with an extra day of recovery before the Sydney match (January 3-7).

Ricky Ponting's side will play five one-day matches against the Kiwis and five against the Proteas.

The two head-to-head series replace the old triangular series, which will not be played for the first time in 30 summers.

Cricket Australia has scheduled three international Twenty20 matches - two against South Africa and one against New Zealand.

Cricket Australia is expected to release its domestic schedule in the coming weeks.

  1. well firstly, i'm not a fan of the 2 test series idea, i have always felt you either play a one-off or best of 3 or more, buts thats just personal opinion

secondly, i'm disappointed adelaide hosts a NZ test instead of SA, but thats also biased opinion

i dont think summer is going to be the same wihout the tri series, cos weve had the tri series since before i was born so i have never known a summer without one, however i dont think the format was working anymore, CA was losing to much money hosting the neutral games and also for every international match a team (say South Africa) plays in australia, they expect australia to play a match in South Africa, therefore if South Africa play New Zealand in sydney, Australia have to play a match in SA and NZ to reciprocate and it just makes too many matches

i think the tri series needs to be put away, FOR NOW, but keep the opinion of bringing it back at some point, maybe save it for when we can get the top 3 ODI countries (like this summer it would be Aus, SA & India) playing againist each other, as i think that would make it more interesting then have say the west indies and england

EDIT: Liked the question Ange, but having just read your profile, i cant believe your a Ford girl, ah well i wont hold it againist you LOL (*thinks to himself "hrmm that could possibly cost me points later lol")

EDIT: Hey Ange, which car do you think would do a better job of running OZ over, ford or holden? wouldnt you like to do some research in that one LOL

  2. Some of the other cricket fans in Aus might want to go see the Black Caps play test matches - when NZ toured Aus in November '04, there were two tests at the same venues.

It would seem more logical if the two touring countries each had one large tour with the tests and ODIs lumped together rather than two separate tours. Not so much of an issue for NZ but definately for South Africa because they will be more affected by jet lag. So I reckon South Africa should play their one dayers before NZ's one dayer.

  3. I love watching the Australian tri-series during the summer...it fills in for my ussually boring holidays. Aus taking on NZ and SA is no difference really. I actually think it may be better.

I think they've taken the tri-series out..for broadcasting reasons. In the last tri-series the matches played between the two visiting teams had really bad ratings that they had to take it off channel nine and not many people went to the matches as Australia wasn't playing. In cricket Australia's view it's a waste of money (seeing as money seems to mean everything these days)

I don't mind the tri-series being scratched, but i hope NZ and SA put on a fight...or it's gonna be pretty boring.
