Australia's Doug Bollinger ruled out of ICC World Cup 2011
Australia have suffered yet another injury blow, as Doug Bollinger has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2011. The left-arm fast bowler missed the opening two games of the mega event following an ankle injury.
According to the team’s physio http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. However, the situation has worsened and he will be sent back to Australia.
Kountouris further added, “The pain is significantly affecting his ability to bowl and he will not play any further part.”
Bollinger featured in six matches of the seven-match series against England, which the Kangaroos won by a 6-1 margin. He was likely to be a part of the Australian-eleven in the first few matches of the World Cup, but his injury didn’t allow him to do so.
The aggressive fast bowler has had a good experience in the Subcontinent, as he was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in 2010; the team which eventually won the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL) that year. Bollinger took 12 wickets in eight outings for
the Kings in that tournament.
A replacement has not yet been named for the injured fast bowler, but it is likely that Peter Siddle could get an opportunity to join his team in the mega tournament.
However, the decision will entirely be up to the Australian selectors. Luckily for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson has been in good form and there hasn’t been a need for an extra fast bowler in the team.
The Kangaroos will be hoping to have an injury free tournament from now onwards. They have been on the back-foot with injuries to some of their key players like Michael Hussey and Nathan Hauritz. Both players were ruled out of the World Cup before the tournament
started and Bollinger has joined them now.
Apart from Bollinger, Australian captain Ricky Ponting and all-rounder Shane Watson also had some minor issues. Ponting hasn’t fully recovered from his fractured finger and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 has a slight strain in his ankle. However, any further injuries could create
some real problems for the defending champions.
