  1. You would have to be a citizen, but not born in Australia. A major political party would have to choose you as their leader, and you would need to be 18 minimum (but more realistically at least 40 or 50).

  2. you would have to be a citizen, but that does not necessarily mean u have to have been born here.

    you would have to be over 18

    and because of the political system here you would have to become leader of the liberal or labour parties here, and that could take a while,

  3. No, you don't have to be born here.

    The eligibility to be Prime Minister is the same as for being a member of Parliament.

    This is from the Australian Electoral Commission official website.

    For both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

    Qualifications

    A candidate for a federal election must be:

    at least 18 years old;

    an Australian citizen; and

    an elector (or a person qualified to become an elector).

    Disqualifications

    (Refer also to Constitution, s44) A person may not be a candidate for a federal election if they are:

    a member of a State or Territory parliament, unless they have resigned before lodging a nomination;

    a citizen or subject of a foreign power;

    serving a prison sentence of 12 months or more;

    is an undischarged bankrupt or insolvent;

    holding an office of profit under the Crown; or

    a permanent member of the Australian Defence Force.

  4. I think u have to live in austra and work ir way up.

    But we just hade a vote it it will be 4 yr's be for you can run for Prime Minster.

  5. No, you do not have to be native born to hold any political office in Australia, including Governor General, or even monarch, lol.

    But you would have a lot of competition ... it's not that easy!

  6. To be Prime Minister of Australia, you only need to be an Australian Citizen; not necessarily born in Australia (unlike America).

    The only "catch" is that you need to be a member of one of the political parties in this country.

    You can certainly run for office in any electorate as an "independent"; however, the elected Government is the party that wins the majority of seats in the federal election.  Therefore it is physically impossible for an independent to ever become Prime Minister of Australia.  And as most of the smaller political parties cannot win enough seats to be elected as the Government of the country, you need to either become a member of the Liberal (right-wing/conservative party - equivalent to America's Republican party) or Labor (left-wing/socialist party - equivalent to America's Democrats).

    So... move to Australia and become a citizen (or be born here); join one of the major political parties; be nominated to be a candidate for one of the electorates; win (and hold onto) the electoral seat; become a member of your political party's caucus; be nominated as leader of your party; then win both your electorate's seat as well as the federal election.  Then, providing the Head of State (English Monarch -- currently QEII) accepts the election results (which is just a formality), their representative (Governor-General) will then swear you in as Prime Minister of Australia for at least the next three years.  EASY.
